CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Inspired by the cycle of life; the death of a living creature is the life of another. This student short film follows a mature deer, Leif, accepting his destiny and reaching the end of his journey without knowing he will become something bigger than himself.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Leif is a mature red deer that has lived in the forest longer than any other creature. He is a wise and prudent stag that maintains a strong and beautiful appearance even as he nears his death.

"Endeering" is a short film with a specific low-poly style in mind. Designing Leif and translating his design to a 3D model was a very rewarding challenge. Leif is a majestic deer with a beautiful posture and in order to keep with the stylized form it was drawn several times using different geometrical shapes and colors.

Leif's anatomy was pushed to not look like a realistic deer and for the final model, it was decided that his front be tear-drop shaped with a circle for his back. He was to have huge and incredible antlers, and skinny long legs.
